About

The main ambition of JANUE is not just to produce new shapes but to combine them with feeling, imagining and thinking. She is an old dandy with antiquated ideas who thinks that words matter and reflection is important.

 

JANUE is a clothing project based in Belgium.

The work develops across a spectrum that moves from the prototype to the generic to the unique.

Prototypes function as a space for testing and development. Archetypes are recurring forms that are developed over time in different materials and variations, and are available through selected stockists. Sui generis pieces exist as singular works and are primarily available directly through the project.

Vita activa forms a later addition to the project, focused on garments developed in relation to daily activity.

The project does not follow a seasonal structure. Production is irregular and dependent on the availability of material and context.

Custom work is undertaken on request, alongside the collection which is available as individual pieces. This includes both one-off garments and the development of uniforms or garments in larger quantities.
